East Coast Guide to Memorial Day Weekend

It’s almost that weekend and the time of the year to kick off the summer…Memorial Day! It’s a huge party weekend for people all across the country, but the East Coast crowd definitely goes all out! We’ve compiled our list of the top East Coast beach communities to head out to for this long week. Be safe, have a blast and be sure to celebrate AMERICA!

Masonboro Island, Wilmington, NC

-Unknown to many outside the eastern North Carolina community, this is a big party place for college kids and young adults during the holiday! A gorgeous island off the coast of Wilmington, NC, party-goers drive their boats up to the shoreline and post up all day long. It’s been known to get rowdy and be a blast, but make sure to pick up after yourself here because law enforcement is cracking down after people left it a mess several years in a row. We can all have a good time and still keep this beautiful Earth clean right?

Cape Cod, MA

-Looking for something a little more quaint, but with something more to offer than just the beach? The Cape is beautiful this time of year, though still a little bit too chilly to swim, and has lots to do once your beach party is over. There’s nightlife in Chatham and Hyannis, and if you have the chance, take a drive out to Provincetown at the very end of the Cape…you won’t regret it!

Ocean City, MD

-If you’re strictly looking to party, this is your spot. Even though its known for having a bit of a sketchy reputation, Ocean City is a ton of fun for young 20-somethings who are looking to rage this holiday weekend. From Fager’s Island’s gorgeous outdoor back deck bar, with a sunset view to die for by the way, to the wildness that can’t be described unless you see it at Seacrets, if you want to go crazy and throw caution to the wind…look no further.

Hilton Head, SC

-One of our favorite beach locations along the East Coast, this beautiful island is full of activities, beautiful beaches, and lots of restaurants and nightlife to make your weekend a blast. From golfing a pro-course in Harbor Town, to shopping at the Tanger Outlets, to jamming out at Big Bamboo Cafe in Coligny Plaza, you will definitely not go bored in this South Carolina oasis.

The Hamptons, Long Island, NY

-This is where most of the NYC city folk kick off their summer on Memorial Day Weekend. About a 3 hour drive from the bustling city, you’ll find a beautiful beach town, chock full of shopping, dining, and celeb sitings, of course! If you’re in need of a quick getaway and don’t mind spending a bit more money, this is a good place to call home for the weekend.

Everyone have a safe and very fun weekend! Be sure to remember this weekend is not just about the great parties, barbecues and beach weather, but also it’s about remembering those who lost their lives serving in the US Armed Forces! Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Wanderlisters!
Much love and wandering…
